If you were brand new at sports betting what kind of free products would you want (even if you aren't new at sports betting actually) in order to signup for a certain sportsbook? LIke if book X said we will give you Y (on top of bonuses) for depositing Z amount of money, what would Y have to be? Or what would you like Y to be? Yes, I am sure we will get a million jokes, but would it be books, gift certificates, an extra cash bonus, etc...?

Maybe something like a match play up to an amount of $. Like a free match play up to $125, so if you bet $110 to win $200, it would be like betting $220 to win $400...

Or strategy books like they do at poker sites. Maybe ever have the people earn points like poker rooms to buy stuff with (like books, hats, shirts, etc.) hell all it does is give that sportsbook more ads to have people walking around wearing their gear.

what about a 1/10 or 1/20 shot of winning a big ticket item?

i.e. rather than offering a $50 bonus if I sign up, pool the $50 from 10-25 people (low number so there's a decent chance of winning) and award it (or a prize worth that amount) to the winner.

I'd rather take a 1/10 shot for $500 (or 1/25 to win a laptop or something) than guarantee a $50 bonus, especially assuming we're talking about a sign-up bonus in addition to the deposit bonus that the book is offering.

That's assuming that the site is paying 100% of the pooled amount and isn't juicing that (i.e. i can take a $50 bonus or a 1/25 shot of winning a grand, obviously the $50 bonus is more +EV). You'd also have to be able to trust the site in question that they'd really award to the ratio advertised and not just 1/100 or etc.

I would like an extra 15 minutes to confirm each of my bets...

How about Sporting Event Tickets!
I'm not sure the budget you have in mind. If this is to high maybe giving someone a Parlay and if it comes through they get 2 tickets to a Sporting event etc.
Another idea would getting a Sports Package for their cable.
Subsciptions to NBA.com (or something like) to listen to games online would be a lesser cost idea.

Had another Idea. This one might be a bit harder to pull off but it would be great if it existed.
Have an ongoing contest for active members. An active member being a person who wagers at least $50 per week (or replace number and time frame) with a Sportsbook they signed up through your site. Have the contest have decent larger prizes.
If you site has valuable info on it, plus the contest, should work great for visitor retention. A lot of work to pull something like this off but would be cool.

For me, rather than getting Y (on top of bonuses), I'd prefer for the bonuses to be easier to get. While a free $20 bet on something specific - or some free merchandise worth $20 - is always nice, I'd much rather just get $20 to do what I want with. When I signed up for my first sportsbook Bodog won me over with 1x rollover on my initial deposit, since I wasn't sure if I wanted to stick with it, or just make a couple of bets, and the 1x meant I knew I could immediately bet the bonus without potentially losing it later because I didn't bet enough total.

Basically, by offering a larger or easier to earn bonus, you're giving me more freedom to do what I want with it than if you force me to take something specific. If I'm signing up with your sportsbook already then I guarantee you I can find a bet I want to make, and extra money likely means I'll bet on an extra game, giving me an extra chance to get a win, get hooked, and become your customer forever /images/graemlins/wink.gif A specific prize, on the other hand, will PROBABLY be something I like, but it's not quite as sure of a thing (or as likely to be lost back to you).

How about some books? I know I have a ton of poker books (haven't looked at any of them) but not any sports books.

Additional bonuses are also nice.

i like all these ideas posted above, and some others as well:

books, magazine subscriptions, ticket vouchers, some free plays here and there, and even all that cheesy sportsbook apparell like hats and t-shirts (nerdy but fun to collect) /images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think a cash bonus of 5-10% back of net losses, or like 2% back on all action after 100 bets would be interesting.

I think you should have all of those prizes, but incorporate a points system where you get a certain amount of points for betting.

What about a seat to the world series of fantasy baseball/football? or a t-shirt?

Sorry, craig, maybe I missed something.

Are you connected to a particular sports betting site and are looking for suggestions to improve the site's offerings?

Performify

I believe he's asking in regards to www.sportsbookpal.com (http://www.sportsbookpal.com) and more specifically in regards to an offer such as "sign up for X sports book through our site, get Y prize"

Ergo suggestions such as "lower juice" or etc other such suggestions which would be specific to the sportsbook don't really apply.

Performify basically hit the nail on the head. Of course, if I was a bookie I would accomodate all of you with the half juice and half points /images/graemlins/smile.gif .

p.s. FWIW, we did take a lot of your suggestions and are working on them right now.
