I read somewhere that the story of Moses parting the Red Sea to free the Hebrews was actually an allegory of this:

Moses was caught having sex with an Egyptian Princess during her period, and the Egyptians were so revolted by this, they cast out the Hebrews. They also placed ten curses on them, which somehow got transformed into the 10 plagues of Egypt.

The princess in question was ritually drowned, hence the drowning of the Egyptians following after the Hebrews.

The other lands heard of this, and shunned the wandering hebrews (hence their long, long wandering time).

Sorry, tried to find a link.

anyone heard it before/think there's anything in it?
