This is probably an awful awful idea, but whatever.

Has anyone ever looked for a counter and spotted them and tried to jump in mid-show when they had a small BR and just play when the count is very high. Just basic strat or even just learn the strat for +3-+6.

Am I going to get shanked or stabbed? Will I get kicked out from stalking. I mean... I think I can spot a guy with stacks of red, green and black consistently betting 3-5 chips and they always change colors... The question is just jumping in when I see him roll a couple blacks under.

Should I just learn to count myself?

Yes. It isn't hard to learn. It is hard however to keep up and conceal!

Not a bad idea at all. I'ts been done. Play with strategy adjustments for a plus deck, follow the counter for your insurance decissions. This also works if you can spot a team running a call in play.

Yes, you should learn to count yourself as you won't find these plays that often. No you won't get stabbed but you will piss some people off

After reading about the MIT poker team and those guys... I think I can take em'.

I have a small bankroll that doesn't have enough to play with a good 1-10 spread on it even though there is a decent game nearby. I might swing through the pit each day before hitting the poker room and look for some familiar faces.

I suggest that betting whenever some random player increases his bet is not a very good system.

How do you intend to spot a card counter if you don't know how to count yourself?

The thing is I know how to count. I'm just not sure I can do it well enough to keep a perfectly accurate count with all the noise etc. or without getting backed off.

I'm under the impression most counters try to make it look like they aren't changing bets throughout the shoe.

Maintaining an accurate count is just a matter of practice, doing it without getting backed off is the hard part and long term pros put a great deal of thought into maintaining their cover.

There aren't as many card counters around as you seem to think. If you walk into a big casino with 100 games going, there may not be a counter there. Even if there is someone counting, how do intend to spot him before the casino does? How do you intend to determine whether the count is +2 or +14?

I suggest that if you want to try card counting, it will be much efficient to learn to count yourself than to attempt to wander around casinos and try to locate someone who is counting.

If, as a beginning card counter, you do manage to spot someone who appears to you to be counting, I suggest that you don't really want to sit at that table anyway because of the increased probability that the heat is already on.
