Villain is unknown, I folded because I was OOP. Too nitty or standard?

I don't mind a fold. A fold can only be a small mistake in a small pot. And you've got plenty of opportunity for this to escalate to where you can make a big mistake on later streets.

I think it's a good fold. AQ plays terrible against a 3 bet not to mention the initial raiser is still left to act.

standard for me.

AQ to a 3-bet when you are OOP is bad news most of the time.

Might be showing my ignorance so be gentle but isn't the action so far raise, re-raise? I'm a little confused as I've read similar post today where I've seen what I thought was a 3-bet called a 4-bet.

standard. you need a good read on villain to make a call, if he's a lagtard then i call all day

call=bet
raise=2-bet
reraise=3-bet
rereraise=4-bet
etc...

oop this is standard. I like calling if we're in position, though

Yeah, standard OOP. If I'm on the BTN and 3bet by SB/BB who knows I steal a lot, I usually call or 4bet if I've seen him 3betting light.

Thanks for all the replies. AQ is one of those hands where I HATE to play OOP. It's just a pain in my ass and I'll probably find myself losing more money than winning...

AQo plays fine OOP given a heads up raised pot but not a 3bet pot OOP. Cbetting + times you actually hit top pair is what makes this a winner, but generally only if you start on the flop as the preflop aggressor.
