Villain runs at 15/12/2.3. Seems pretty taggy overall.

I probably bet/fold the turn. He won't put you on a 4 and I don't think he folds Ax. I won't put him on a 4, but if this guy c/r he has 4x/set (44/22/A4/55/33). I guess checking the turn and calling the river is fine though.

I think you played it fine (if you called) and I think you are a good player overall and you are definitely above me in terms of skill.

I'm wondering why you didn't bet the turn though. Did you want to induce a river bluff? Pot control? To become less predictable? Or id you figure he had a set/or a straight by now because a set or 42s, 46s, AJ+ (edit: and 53, A3, A5) are basically the only hands he would call the flop with. So you figured that by betting here, you are only folding out worse hands and getting resistance from better hands. Is this right?

Because I know this is a spot where I always bet/fold unless I know some guy is capable of playing back at me with air...which didn't seem to be the read you had.

I checked because I felt it was more likely I get action from a random ace this way. I think if I bet this turn he could get away from weaker aces especially given his stats.

If you think that's true then I like the check. The opponents I play generally won't fold Ax, but getting 3 streets of value might be slim so checking is fine. But call the river.

Yea I called river, once I check turn I felt a river call is mandatory
