....or will my nothing be better than his nothing on a blank river?

Readless, first few hands at the table

Party Poker, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker (http://www.leggopoker.com)Hand History Converter (http://www.leggopoker.com/hh)

CO: $4.50
BTN: $78.43
SB: $5.53
BB: $14.58
UTG: $115.38
Hero (MP): $49.25

Pre-Flop: A/images/graemlins/heart.gif Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif dealt to Hero (MP)
UTG folds, Hero raises to $2, CO folds, BTN calls $2, 2 folds

Flop: ($4.75) 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 Players)
Hero bets $3, BTN calls $3

Turn: ($10.75) 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 Players)
Hero bets $7

Obviously the question applys to when he calls the turn bet

I wouldn't 3 barrel most players on non-heart,A,Q rivers.

However, against some players I would sometimes check/call.

No IMO. Very rarely.

I double barrel here a lot, but I'm really not sure it's right - the board hasn't got scarier and we haven't picked up additional outs. Usually I prefer one of those 2 things to be the case to db (or stuff like villain never folding to cb's or villain being a known floater).

So I think we are banking on villain folding a pp here a lot or are hoping he's on a float, which I think is pretty rare and should probably not be assumed of an unknown.

So I'm not 100% sure about the db.

But if I double barrel here I think I go a smidge more on turn. $8.75 makes more of a statement I think.

i'd rather double when i don't have any outs or showdown value

what are you hoping folds here?

What about like a $6.5 blocking bet here?....maybe unpaired cards or even 77 or w/e will fold, but more so it means hero won't have to face a bigger bet after checking...?

If river comes a K or something I think we have to.

with a draw with as much s/d value as this i'm probably looking to check the river mostly. if a K or J come I might have a stab, but really this is not a situation where i'm thinking about a three barrel really (especially readless). if we check behind river and he shows a pp, fair enough - we had plenty of equity earlier in the hand but we can't win every pot.

edit: i thought we were in postion - that makes me want to be K or J rivers less (because he hasn't shown weakness by checking for the third time yet), but it makes me want to bet blank rivers more with a kind blocker/bluff bet for like 1/2 pot.

who thinks a /images/graemlins/spade.gif river is a good card to bet?

I had thought you meant the 3rd barrel was the turn bet

I wouldn´t bet the river, if he calls the turn with his crappy pair he is calling river. I would probably cc river some of the time.
