Am I missing something?

the only reason i'm checking this river is to RAISE.

If you're not checking the river to induce this kind of action what are you checking the river for?

I'd also bet more on the flop.

wtf wtf wtf

get it in

Ahead of so many 2-pair here.
AK usually re-raises preflop and 98 shouldn't call flop.

I open-shove river for value.

When villan bets into you on the river it is a very good thing. There is no possible hand that he could have where the 5d improves his hand to be better than yours - so this is not a river nightmare. Raise.

Is the river a nightmare because you put him exactly on a straight? Just because someone bets doesn't mean they have the nuts. I know big bets are scary, but please push.

Turn was bad for you, river is nothing. You were either beaten on the turn, or you are ahead.

You're behind AK and 98, neither of which makes much sense. Did he call a 4xBB bet with 98 or not re-raise with AK? Did he really call a 1/2 pot bet with 98 trying to spike an T.

AK might be here, passive preflop, figured you had one pair so any AK or T is good. But QJ and 44 are certainly within range, and maybe AQ.

I'd probably shove over his bet.

Don't you have his aggression factor?

Well...ok.....if by river nightmare you mean river heaven.

First off bet flop bigger.

My turn bet is prolly slightly smaller.

Prolly bet river yourself.

Once you check and he bets then raise all-in.
