View Full Version : NL50 - slow down with a set on the turn?

This was a short session so I have no numbers on villain.
Should I slow down on the turn here or try to get it in? There were not many draws he could have called on the flop with. Could be a made straight or some kind of a J. It does not seem to be very profitable to raise both of these. What about the river? Do I raise here? The bet does not look like the straight. What if I get reraised?

why aren't you raising the turn? Are you afraid of 59 or 45? The six doesn't change anything else...9 10 already had us. Raise to about ~28, and gladly call a shove.

He could have QQ-AA, 77, or like some random J9 J10 hand

i'm raising his turn donk like 100% of the time. probably about half the pot so a pair/gutshot type hand like J9 or 98 cant profitably call even with implied odds......

ever consider making it $4 or $5 pf? you'll be able to steal any flop he misses, win the pot often pf, and get his stack easier when you both hit /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh [censored], he bet and there are 2 hands that beat us, better call down! Jesus christ man, put your money in. Raise turn to 15, push river, stack whatever [censored] he has.

I am not afraid to get it in, I was asking if it's not better to play it slower and raise the river, there are not many hands that can call the turn raise

I know I screwed up here but I did not notice the 6 does not help any draw during the hand (yeah still trying to learn to read the board lol)

They call with so much here, including the draws, that you're losing value by not raising. Oh, and you failed to raise the river anyway.

On the turn you should be raising for protection, value is secondary.

6 is a really good card for you. You do know 9T was there anyway, right?

4 hands do beat us. However, that isnt relevant since the hand should still play the same way. Turn is an easy raise on this board. I would aim at getting it in there in someway. Raise to 15-20$ and hope for a call/reraise. Then get it on river. What should make this hand easy is that we are in position, but still we are letting him have the iniative with small bets(!) when we have a set on a none-dangerous board vs his UTG range.

Looks like you got really scared here when he started mini-betting you, I get frozen sometimes against the mini-donks but not with hands as strong as yours here.

Raise turn and if there is anything left put it in on the river
