I was trying to explain the basic principles behind time dilation and relativity in general to my 13 year old little brother a while back...

I was searching the interenet for a clip that I had seen a few years ago..It was an animated (very low quality) clip of a spaceship flying away from earth and letting off blips each second..and it explained what was happening at each point.

anyway just wondering if any of you had ever seen this clip and know where to find it..or have seen another good teaching tool like this one and know where I can find it...because I've been searching for this thing for a while now and I can't find it.

And I don't think my brother is ready for a more detailed explaination, with calcuations and such...but this is a start.

A quick search turned up the following page, which might be useful:

I don't think it's the same clip you described... but you may also wish to check out the Physics section of www.fourmilab.ch (http://www.fourmilab.ch) - lots of other great material there on astronomy too if that might be a hobby for either of you.
