Villain was 54/16/3.5 (after only 40 hands or so), and had donked into me and others a couple of times while i'd been there. Looking back on it though, i'm not so confident about my play - I really had to be behind. Was it an acceptable bluff, or kinda idiotic?

You need to set the format on that converter to 2+2.

If you meant it as a bluff it's idiotic as nothing that beats you is ever folding.

However, I think I like it for value. After the turn the only hand I'm worried about is 44 (54 a little and 55 is still possible.)....and he's a very very aggro player.

this is fine. I am happy getting my money in here. stack a donk line is ok imo.

I would prefer a bet/fold on the turn, villain could have a lot of draws so we dont want to give a free card, if raised we can assume were behind and fold. As Lego said, the check raise wont work as a bluff, and has little value.

Bump his flop raise big and shove turn. TPTK has to be good against this villans range on flop and I'm sure he's playing this was worse kings and draws as often than he is with hands that you beat.

Why do you say it is a bluff? Do you actually want to make him fold? Imo if you decided to play for stacks, then it should rather be for value.

I'd 3bet the flop to ~10 to see if he pushes. If yes, I'd fold, if not, I'd fire for 3/4 on the turn and slow down on river. Interesting hand, though, I'd like to hear other opinions.

edit: Sheesh you guys are fast.

TPTK against a 54/16 is essentially the nuts. I 3bet the flop (and call a push) and get called by his naked fdraw or worse K every time

I dont really mind as played however

I think I was influenced by the results when i called it a bluff. Apparently I really was behind...

Villain tanked and tanked on the river, said, "KK?" and, "I'm folding a fh," and then he did fold.

I think he was telling the truth, too, because he talked about it with other players, and reiterated it a couple of times.

OP, what do you mean "we have to be behind"? I think we're ahead here a lot.

stacking 200bbs with TPTK even against 54/16 isn't that great. 54/16 means they usually stack lighter, but we don't really know this.

I think bet folding this turn isn't a bad option. the 5 is a great card for us.
