As played I guess I bet $1 and just hope he calls.

Yeah, bet around the pot or a little over - make it look like a bluff. Then fist-pump when he calls.

raise pf, bet river for $1. i also consider betting the turn (though checking is obv fine).

Yeah, went for the $1.50.
