So I find myself in a certain habit now and again. Checking behind on the river. Take a look at this hand:

UTG ($10.50)
Hero ($30.65)
Button ($12.05)
SB ($13.50)
BB ($33.90)
Preflop: Hero is MP with T/images/graemlins/club.gif, A/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB calls $0.90, BB calls $0.75.
Flop: ($3) A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 4/images/graemlins/club.gif, 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
SB checks, BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $2</font>, SB calls $2, BB folds.
Turn: ($7) K/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $4</font>, SB calls $4.
River: ($15) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, Hero checks.
Now if I'd had AQ or AK, or possibly AJ, I would have made a final value bet on the river. But with a kicker or ten or lower, I find myself getting gun shy on the river.
Is this a leak? Am I leaving more money on the table than I would be throwing out (do you think?) Generally I imagine that I'd only get consistently called by bigger kickers, but some of the terrible calls I've seen make me wonder.
Advice?
EDIT: So of course I'm a big idiot who didn't see that his kicker was meaningless, but what if that 2 wasn't paired? Do you make the bet even if the kicker plays?
