The other guy sat down with a $3 stack and played about 10 hands before this:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool (http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php) from FlopTurnRiver.com (http://www.flopturnriver.com) (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($18)
MP ($12.55)
Button ($15.20)
Hero ($24.35)
BB :#A500AF(Other Guy)/ ($3.90)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.4</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB :#A500AF(Other Guy)/ raises to $1.3</font>

So obviously it's shove or fold. Is this situation entirely read-based, or is there something more practical I should see?

Flip vs a shortstack 3 times in a row, and they need to win all times to make money, you only need to win once. That's all there is to it.
