View Full Version : Did anyone do well at Martins Poker?

When people first started talking about it many months ago, it was portrayed as the best bonus on the net with some of the easiest tables to boot. Now it seems like every time I see them mentioned lately, everyone is complaining about how tough it is to clear and how they lost twice as much as the bonus trying to complete it.

I've still got the whole thing to do over the next two months and I'm starting to fear it...

I broke even at the tables. I got a couple small bonuses--refer a friend, some monthly thing, etc, and am just waiting now for the big bonus to be put in my account. For limit full-ring which is what I mostly played, it's very tight, like Absolute-ish tight. I can't speak to no-limit or 6max, but i've heard that those are looser, especially nl. i'm still deciding whether to try the other b2b bonuses; they have big amounts for bonus but few players and not many tables...

I won around €450 on top of the bonus playing mostly €2/4 shorthanded. This was in November/December though.

The first thing you need to realize is that the vast majority of bonus whores are very mediocre poker players. The second thing is that the B2B network has very aggressive, and thus high variance games.

If you're good at poker, Martins is possibly the best bonus ever.

If you read the past posts it depends on what game you play. Limit is tight/tough to beat, NL is loose/easier to beat. I played limit and wantedt o dip my head in acid. I recently played SNG's with the VIP points and have turned that into 350 euros playing NL.....

I ended up making a small profit at the 5 B2B sites I've whored so far, playing about 80% short-handed limit holdem. I've also used my VIP points to enter 6 SNG's, where I've moneyed in 5. Maybe it was just a good run, but the SNG players at B2B seemed truly atrocious.

i know of 4 players plus me and we all either made a tiny profit (under 50$) or lost 10, plus got the big bonuses, none of us could seem to do a damn thiong and all quit after we got our bonuses as a few bucks an hour or less aint worth it when u average over 10$ on the main sites . The site seemed kinda weird but with the bonuses the rate was good, but with the crazy signup bonuses i cant see many players ever staying there long term

Do tournament fees count towards the bonus?

Yes they do.

Not 100% sure of the exact figures but I believe you get 2 points for a 5 euro S&G and 3 points for a 10.

If you play limit you should probably pass this one, extremly poor table selection and the +.30 $ rake requirement means few raked hands.

Also I got this bad feeling that the site is rigged with loads of beats and really strange ones too, this surely is'nt the case but you know that you're running really bad when you get it.

All in all I'm losing 400 euros playing and getting 650 in boni which is way less than expected even though I normally do a lttle worse when stepping down in limits.

As a conclusion if playing full ring limit poker this is an awful bonus, shorthanded is probably a bit better you can at least find some 2-4 tables.

Good luck, Kristoffer

Almost forgot waiting 90 days for the money thats just crazy, and might be quite risky if the site don't do well. Wasn't there a bunch of sportsbook which went out of business that has to happen to pokerrooms too eventually.

Cleared a good bit of the bonuses back when it was all Scandinavian donks at the tables, did well during that period but fell back a bit this past month, and wound up ahead around E160 or so plus the bonus.

However, while waiting for the last of the bonus to show up, I've been playing SnG's for the last few days, and more than doubled my profit. To anyone who still has money in there, I strongly suggest checking them out--virtually no US players in the SnG's since they don't count for bonus, and the play in the low level ones is horrendous.

I played both limit 6max and PL Omaha.

The 6max tables are generally much softer than full ring there, as full ring is a bunch of Americans playing tight and clearing bonii.

I lost around 600 Euros playing limit at Martins. In their defense, I was playing $2/$4 shorthanded, which is only about 150bb swing.....which is nothing playing 6 max. I just got a crappy run of cards at some aggressive tables. Plus, I suck at poker.

My advice would be to play NL. There are 10 times as many tables and the games are better. I've only played a handfull of NL sessions, but I learned to love it at Martins.

That should be Martin's slogan.

"Learn to love NL at Martin's"

I played 100NL full ring to clear the bonus there (well actually 100NL and 200NL so i could 4-table).

I made about 1000 euros over my bonus, so for me its been great /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Cleared half of my bonus playing S&G's you'd better believe they count.

Damn....send me some of that luck. The play seems really bad at Martin's alot of people playing doodoo and taking it too far, however they are also getting very lucky (when i'm in at least). I'm down over 300BB in roughly 1200 hands at 1/2 NL. But if people keep playing 53o in to my 4xBB raises and calling my pot sized all-ins with gut shots, I'm likely to recover from that.

I'm down a bit after 3200 vip points at no limit. I had the feeling that i wan'st hitting sets nearly as often as i do on average and see suckouts a lot. I also suspected collusion between 2 multitablers (like sharing hand info, etc) and emailed them. Might be cooincidence and i have done ok elsewere as well as had bad runs elsewhere and not suspected something being up. I remain suspicious of that network however.
