[/ QUOTE ]

You're comparing the wrong lines. Sklansky bucks only has meaning in relation to showdown winnings, since it calculates your expected showdown winnings. You are running ahead of expectation in pots that get shown down.

The fact that your total winnings line is below the blue line indicates you lose money in non-showdown pots, although not nearly as much as in fgators' graph, and this isn't necessarily a bad thing, depending on typical game conditions.

Edit: And looking at the graph again, you're total winnings is tracking showdown winnings pretty well, so you're doing pretty well in non-showdown pots lately, definitely not even close to fgators-esque

[/ QUOTE ]

I've heard this before, but could you elaborate? I understand that in terms of evaluating "how good am I running" PokerEV only tells a very small part of the story, but could you explain what is biased or misleading about the graphs themselves?

I am assuming that it calculates expected showdown winnings (not just all-in luck) by looking at each street of each hand and calculating ($amount_bet x %equity), is that right?
If so, the main problem seems to be whether or not it calculates equity when drawing just the next card, or expected equity at showdown if there is no more betting. Either way seems at least a little problematic, but it still seems semi-useful.

Actually, I mainly use pokerEV to easily see the difference between how much I win at showdown vs. without showdown for different situations using the filters. It's a nice way to look for situations where you may habitually be missing opportunities to steal, or situations where you may be committing too lightly.

meh, i'm making pretty good money at 50nl (i played 100nl basically all of september, made a bunch, but then when on a downswing so moved back down), so i don't really feel the need to move, i guess it's bad for my progression as a player, but it's (50nl) just so damn easy at this point for me...

I play 30-40 thousand hands per month. I consider 20 buy-ins to be fine for the time being, and really don't mind if I have to bounce back and forth between 50NL and 100NL as I adjust/run bad.

I agree with thac, you can't analyze EV graphs in a vacuum. It's more useful if you have some particular kind of situations in mind, and you can use the filters to investigate those hands.

Checkout The cumulative bet vs. equity on the analysis tab with various types of hands, or look at the showdown winnings vs total winnings when you flopped a flush draw in position, things like that.

1. I'm not c-betting this spot very much either. It's a strange way to play KT but plausible. Maybe JT? TT? AQ seems possible. Or, minbet flush draw on turn. Some kind of just nothing bluff that he doesn't think can show down. Ugh, very sick 3bet on river. You should be beat, right? I hate myself if I call or fold.

2. Pushing or c/c push both fine IMO. He's probably not folding big flush draw either way.

First day at 100NL results in -1.5 buy-ins in 1500 hands. Meh. I don't know if it's just skewed perception or just the time/tables that I played at but it seems to me that this is just 50NL with (on average) one less loose fish and one more TAGfish per table.

Yeah. AP accidentily sent out a * master* hand history file for the tournament. In it, the account could be tied to IP adressess and email. Which led to the point where the IP adress of the cheater could be traced back to the residential modem adress of Scott tom. The AP support guy who sent out that file was fired. There's also been some inside info, where employees leaked intell to N82 and adanthar.

Another account has been confirmed to also belong to Scott tom, which was proven by digging up emails dating back 6 months+.

You have infinity aggression on all streets in my database as well /images/graemlins/ooo.gif didn't defend your blinds once. Att. to steal blinds was only a little above 20, so you could really be raising more hands on the button.
