I feel like I played this hand horribly on the turn. I had just sat for a few hands and had no reads on the villain.

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players
LegoPoker (http://www.legopoker.com)Hand History Converter (http://www.legopoker.com/hh)

UTG: $9.05
BTN: $21.70
SB: $22.55
Hero (BB): $23.15

Pre-Flop: 8http://www.legopoker.com/hh/images/diamond.gif 8http://www.legopoker.com/hh/images/club.gif dealt to Hero (BB)
UTG folds, BTN raises to $0.75, SB folds, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($1.60) 7http://www.legopoker.com/hh/images/club.gif Khttp://www.legopoker.com/hh/images/club.gif 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25

Turn: ($4.10) 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($4.10) Thttp://www.legopoker.com/hh/images/diamond.gif (2 Players)
Hero bets $3, BTN raises to $8.25, Hero ..

Ok a few things:

1. Should I have re-raised his bet Pre-flop?
2. Should I have called his bet on the flop?
3. Should I have re-raised his flop bet 3x?
4. When my set came on the turn should I have bet, even with a potential straight out there?
5. River fold?

All kinds of questions here for me. I want to play this situation better.

i probably bet turn given the amount of draws out there, around 3.25
river if im betting its always a bet / fold, you're never getting raised by a hand you beat imo

This is how I play. re-raise preflop. Lead flop. Shove turn!

I prob lead turn the way you played it. I think K9 is within his range. You kind of have to call the river bet though

Sometimes you just have to switch it up. Instead of calling, I would have 3-bet preflop to $2.50 (you're out of position and would like to take the hand down with a flop c-bet), bet 3/4 of pot on flop, then put in a pot size bet on the turn to chase out draws (just in case)...hell I might even shove for good measure. Villain's preflop raise probably suggests he has high cards (in general). The king may or may not have hit him. His check on the turn tells me he either didn't get a piece of the flop, he does have a king with a weak kicker. However, villain's river raise looks like two pair here, maybe KT, or God forbid, TT. That's why not betting the turn is really bad IMO.

As played, you MUST bet the turn hard! If he has a hand like TT you probably get him to fold here because he would assume you have a pair of Kings. If he has a KQ-K9 in his hand you have him dominated.

I was more long-winded in my response, but YES...what he said!

Thanks for the responses, you've confirmed my thoughts about this hand - bad play on the turn.

Also, the PF raise idea is money. I should PF raise and then c-bet the flop, taking away his position advantage.

Agree with whats been said about rr pre and lead flop, but as played, assuming your plan is check raising the turn if he bets I like the turn check.

With 2 flush draws out there hes betting just about all made hands to stop you from drawing and once you check raise your hand looks really like a 1 pair hand that picked up spades and you should get paid off by a big part of his range that your ahead of.

On river as played I probably call, although Im not thrilled about it.
