View Full Version : 27% Rakeback vs. 6% Bonus at FTP

My understanding is that you get 27% rakeback from FTP, while the bonus gives you 6% of the entire rake (including other players). So don't you need to be playing at least 5-handed (assuming you bet the same amount as everyone else) for the bonus to be higher than the rakeback?

you do know that you get both, right? There are some good examples of RTR how it gets calculated/deductied

On the RTR site, for FTP it says "The Bonuses are deducted from rake". What you're saying is that if the rake is more than the bonus, you get rakeback, so it can never hurt to have the bonus. Right?? Or am I still missing something? It just seems to me that the bonus is only bigger than the rakeback when there are more than 27/6 (i.e. 5 or more) players on the table.

If you play enough to clear the bonus, you still get some rackback back.

I think you're making a common mistake in your calculations. The bonus is deducted from your MGR (your total rake) NOT from your rakeback. If your bonus was greater than your MGR, that would mean your bonus was equivalent to more than 100% RB. Bonuses that size are extremely rare, so I think it's safe to say you will ALWAYS get some RB while clearing a bonus at FT. Well, maybe except for a month where you make lots of deposits, store pucrhases, etc.

Let me try an example. Say you play some 4-handed games that generate a total rake from the table of $100. That gives you a bonus $100*6%= $6. Your MGR is $100/4=$25. So your rakeback is ($25-$6)@27%=$5.13. Yes?

I have no idea if either your bonus or MGR calculations are correct. However, if your MGR is $25 and you cleared $6 bonus, then yes, the remainder is correct. So RB alone would get you $6.75, bonus alone would get you $6, but both together gives you $11.13. RB + Bonus > RB OR Bonus.

Edit to add: I don't play FT regularly, so I wasn't sure about the rest of the numbers. Now that I check, I think your other numbers are accurate. The thing is, they don't particularly matter, as it isn't a choice of RB OR bonus.

I had this question myself before and this is the answer i got from the raketherake support. I hope it helps.

The FT bonus is released in chunks as you earn it.

The bonus is deducted from the rake by Full Tilt (along with other deductions) before they calculate the rakeback.
In general a player will generate more rake in clearing the bonus than the actual value of the bonus and so will receive rakeback on the balance.

For example in any given month a player might earn $140 in bonuses (from the possible $600)
They might have raked $220 to clear the bonus (and no other charges)
Therefore they will get the $140 bonus from Full Tilt
And also they will get 27% of $80 ($220-$140) or $21.6 in rakeback.

But it is always better to get rakeback + bonus, rather than just rakeback….even if the bonus is deducted from your rake.
Here's a quick example of why.

Let's say you sign up and rake $1,000 in your first month.
Let's also assume you get a $300 bonus
Your net rake is $700
Let's assume for ease you are on 30% rakeback
You will get $210 (30% of $700) back
Plus you got the $300 bonus
Total comp is $510 (effectively 51% rakeback on your $1000)

Now let's assume you play the same amount without a bonus.
Bonus = 0
Net rake = $1000
Rakeback at 30% = $300
Total Comp = $300
Effective 30% rakeback on your $1000

I sense some mocking here, but perhaps I deserved that in return for my sarcasm. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
