recently three things happened that have me wondering . . one is I am having a losing streak over the last few days, a few instances where opponants almost seemed able to read my cards. then . .
I get an email leading me to this website offering to sell me a 'program' using 'covert computer technology' to let me read my opponant's cards. then . . .
my Spyware keeps finding a backdoor called IRC.Lambot. According the anti-spyware program this is a 'severe risk' backdoor basically allowing an outsider into my system, and more.
Before you guys blast me for being paranoid let me say that I am an overall winning player (slightly) and I realize this would not be possible if there were cheating going on en masse. I realize that to conclude that these three things are related would be post hoc.
However, I do wonder - do any of you know what the name or names of the backdoor these programs use is? I will be darned if I am going to send them money to find out.
Is anyone aware of exactly what IRC.Lambot is, where is comes from, etc? I googled it and also searched our database here and did not really come up with anything that might clue me into how I am getting infected with it. Lots of other internet activity here, many ways it could get in.
And lastly, does anyone have an opinion to offer about what anti-spyware I should use? Is there anything out there that opperates in the background and sounds an alarm when something like Lambot comes in?
