Villian is fairly aggro but not a spewtard, 29/20 over about 200 hands. He plays farily well postflop and I haven't seen him do anything out of line. Thoughts on turn check and river fold?

i bet fold the turn a ton. makes the hand rather easy to play against as well as protects ur hand from another /images/graemlins/heart.gif hitting on the river and effectively killing ur hand totally

I think you played this hand fine. Lets think about it:

If villain had a set, we're behind, and he doesn't fold turn.
If villain had heart draw, we're drawing to a 4 outer.
If villain had A4 or 46, we're behind (already on flop)
If villain had a hand like 24 hearts, we're now behind.

In fact, the only hands I can really see us ahead of on the turn are hands like 56, 52, 32, 54. None of these hands would call a bet on the turn anyway imo

The river is just a terrible card to come. This is an insta fold. Basically no matter what villain had, he's beating you

kaz,
I agree our hand needs protection but I just had trouble putting villian on a hand we are ahead of on the turn. I could see a tight passive player holding 88-1010 maybe, but I'm not sure how many overpairs we can expect an aggro player to have here. Only hands on the turn I think we beat is a hand like 34 or Ax that decided to peel flop with an overcard/gutshot draw.

[/ QUOTE ]i personally think his range is weighted heavily towards mid pps imo. a few Ax hands that have a gutter and 2 overs and then obv some fds and straight draws. i really think bet folding the turn is best here. as played tho i am deff dumping the river. calling psbs on the river is typically a bad imo and not on this board when all the draws we were ahead of hit basically.

Isn't villain going to bet a lot of rivers there since (1) lotta scare cards out there (2) you checked turn?

I'd rather block the turn and if he still calls, then hope I can C/C the river.

i definitely bet that turn and fold to any aggression. If he just calls and then leads into me on the river, I also most likely fold.
