What do you beat here? JJ? KT?

Should we call if he makes a river bet?

I think a better question is whether you call his 1/2PSB

I kinda like a smallish bet here...maybe even just $10..and fold to a raise obviously

EDIT: keep in mind I play 25NL..and there, I think people have hands that have a T or 8 or a lower PP and will call with them enough to make betting about 1/2 the pot profitable on the river...might not be the case at 50NL, I don't know...

I like the way you played pre and flop.

From his action, I'd have him on a jj+/aks+. His turn action is odd because I doubt he'd put you on a flush draw, and I doubt he'd call that large of a bet on the flop with ak w/o the flush draw or higher pair. I think his most likely holding is KK/AK, but this depends a lot on his AF.

With that said, I think you have three moves on the river, either check/call,check/fold, or bet/fold. Check/call allows him to bluff with a JJ but that's about it. If you bet/fold, I doubt you're going to get any hands besides KK to fold. If you check/fold, you're allowing him to bluff you out with a worse hand.

I think the best option is check/fold because he's not staying past the flop without two overs/flush draw. Since the ace hits, I don't see you beating much on the river.
