When Ace flopped i gave up on a hand and tried to take it down with cbet. Now i think that after putting 1/3 of effective stack preflop the worst i can do is put another 1/3 and fold. Any ideas?

Don't CB a short stack. If you CB, you need to shove.

I actually like to cbet/fold shorties and i do it a lot and it usually works.

The idea behind it is that shortstack is quite sure, that you are committed to the pot. So he is making decision for all his chips, yet you bluff him only for half of it.
When he shoves he does it cause he thinks his hand is good. He isn't expecting me to fold.

In that actual hand it might be bad however, i am really not sure.
