Theres no need to be so tricky. I dont mind the flop check, but bet that turn! You need to start building the pot here, or your river bets will be too small to have the chance to stack him.

This is my first post, I've been playing 50nl for a short while. Pre-flops good although opening for 4xBBs is preferable over 3xBBs, re-raise is good. Yeah it's a real dry board and given your read I understand why you dont bet but its $2nl, hes called a 3 bet in position, he's gonna peel a turn off so bet like 1/2 the pot (so what if he folds, kick your cat and move on). As played you gotta bet that turn, get some money in the pot. Don't get in the habit of 'praying' that villians hit their two outers, mostly they won't but they will invent all kinds of reasons in their head for why they should stay in the hand if you bet bet bet.

Also, you might aswell have posted results given your last sentence and there's only 2 hands that beat you!

Its 5NL, so we are pretty damn deep.

I misread, in that case even more reason to bet flop. What was your plan if he bet flop? You're not gonna stack people by checking top set oop on the flop this deep.

I was aiming for 3/4 of his stack /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bet the flop. The question I have for you is what are you 3betting and checking the flop with? You're OOP so therefore, you make very little by c/r here, since more often than not, villain folds. So just bet. About 0.85 sounds about right. If he folds, so be it. You still made 28BB's.

Assuming then that villain calls, either bet the turn or crai. More often than not, you're just better off betting this down for value.

Please unlearn how to slowplay. I play 200NL and it's still rarely needed/used. So please, unlearn it.

I know slowplaying is seldom right. I now can smack myself to the head for not betting the turn. But the circumstances looked right in this hand..
