i call. UTG is comprised of more than hands with an "8" in them. two pair, worse sets, whiffed flush draws, even TP type hands might do this. unfortunately you will see T8 and 89 here a good bit.

Easy call. Laugh at his spades

I agree with the river call, I also think you have to bet more on flop (~psb), the pot is multiway and there are a lot of draws.

this is a really easy call. I seriously doubt villain called both streets with any hand that is comprised of an 8.

Also, bet more on the flop. When you bet smaller like that, then lead out strong on the turn, you are making your hand a bit transparent IMO. Essentially, I would view it as you're trying to string me along on the flop and once you see you have me, you bet out strong on the turn. I'm probably going to put you on a flopped 2-pair/set hand right away. With that turn bet, I'm definitely going to be taking you off most draws (especially flush draws).

this is a mistake, if he's going to raise you, he'll do it whether you bet big or small. betting small just gives your villains attractive odds to call.

Agrred i also laugh at his spades, until i notice he has 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif. Got to call this though, might even be worth a value bet lol.

I don't believe in runner runner gutshot gutshot whatever straightdraws when I hold a set until I see them.

No neither do I, but it's surprising how often you see them, villian if he's bad is as likely to have an 8 as any other card, I call like i said, but i'm not gonna give him the satisfaction of being surprised no matter what he has.

I meant that I don't make decision based on the idea that he might have called 2 streets to hit such a draw. Of course I'm not surprised to 85o or something like that here. But I think one should be aware what kind of longshot villain has hit when contemplating a fold because of the straight possibility. I think his range is far wider than an 8.
