Felt a bit frisky and decided to open up a bit...

Villain is 59/22/1

Ultimate Bet - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker (http://www.legopoker.com) Hand History Converter (http://www.legopoker.com/hh))

SB: $30.25
BB: $58.40
UTG: $42.10
Hero (MP): $65.55
CO: $36.45
BTN: $59.55

Preflop: Hero is dealt 8/images/graemlins/club.gif 6/images/graemlins/club.gif (6 Players)
UTG folds, Hero raises to $1.75, CO folds, BTN calls $1.75, SB folds, BB calls $1.25

Flop: ($5.50) 9/images/graemlins/club.gif T/images/graemlins/club.gif 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $4.00, BTN folds, BB raises to $8.00, Hero ??

Is this insta-shove? How would you play it?

thanks all

mm...

i get confused here too, maybe cuz i need higher bankroll when i play but..

wouldn't be better to call down cuz if you hit you'll money,
if you dun hit, you'll lose alot calling down but not your whole stack persay?

we have a monster hand, why not get it in right now.
Calling, I think is the opposite, if a club hits, villain might just slow down and we wont get much value of it.
Its likely something like a 50/50 equity against his range here, so by moving in we will be gaining of all the times he is going to just dump his hand away.
I feel shoving here might be a little too much of an overbet, but just dont see another way of playing it

Dumb question - is the reason that we are shoving here because of the fold equity that it provides, basically making this a huge (meaning strong) semi-bluff?

We're shoving because we have 12 outs. Get it in for sure, your equity tanks so bad if you just call and the turn bricks.

IMO it somehow is, the only difference is that we dont mind that much getting called. I just feel calling is not an option, and just make a standard raise its got to be like 22$+, so we would be commited to call a shove on the river or here. What I feel is if hes got a set, well if we raise he is shoving, so same results. If he has two pair, same results. With one pair, probably a 24$ bet will get him to fold, but I believe a shove would do better. And I hate the idea of raising and leaving a piece of trash left to bet on the turn, so yeah shove this as u say as a huge semibluff

This is standard for me but I use it as part of a balanced semi-lag strategy which I am experimenting with. It can get a little messy postflop and I wouldnt recommend it. The flop is an autopush.

Tilte is similar to 'Enhance your sex life with the Sexomatic meat mincer'. I push flop.
