Decided to try my luck at micro NL for a bit of excitement since micro limit can be such a grind and 2 hands have had me wondering if I could have played them any better. No real reads on anyone, rip it apart boys! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Should I have bet higher on the turn in hand 1?

Hand 2, didn't want to scare the opposition away on the flop but was checking here really stupid?

Where to begin... oh, how about hand 1 /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Folded to in SB, you need to raise if you're going to play as you likely have the best hand. Bet the flop, most cards in the deck are going to be scare cards and you'll have no idea where you are if you just check. As played, when he raises river I'd just call unless opponent is a donkey. It's likely a chop at best, or the unlikely quads. Either way less rake for the house if you just call.

Hand 2:
RAISE MORE PF!! Never, EVER min-raise! Raise it to $4. Also, don't check that flop! Bet $3.70 or so. As played, QUIT WITH THOSE MINRAISES!! This is NL, not limit! Just get it all-in when he minraises you. If he has KQ oh well, and you let him draw to it for free... not good.

Thanks for the advice, that all makes sense and it must be frustrating to see hands played so badly /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I dont think im quite ready for NL I guess but the last 4 hours have been 100x more fun than limit, if only I had the bankroll to support it!

Don't play above your bankroll. Move down to where you have at least 20buy-ins (preferrably 30 or more since you're new to NL). I agree though, NL is way more fun than limit but you need to study the game and keep posting hands like this here.

I actually quit limit because the variance got to me... NL is actually lower variance.

And it is more interesting...

Yeah I think it will be a while till my bankroll could reasonbly support NL but I thought i'd just pop $10 for the experience and see how far i'd get. Got up to $40, back down, back up to $30 then steadily made silly mistakes till I wiped out but it was a valuble learning experience and made for an entertaining evening /images/graemlins/smile.gif
