View Full Version : Should I bet the pot preflop here?

Most strategies i've heard of advocate just calling here with the medium pair with so many limpers, hoping to hit a set. My question: Would it be a good idea to fire in a rather large preflop raise (about $1.75) to try and push everyone out without a flop, and to have a better idea where you stand postflop when it rags out like this? I just don't like the idea of making that same bet postflop when five other people saw the flop and they could easily trap my overpair. Thanks

you should absolutely be raising here preflop, $1.75 is perfect. Winning the pot preflop is great, as is building a pot with players that are willing to limp/call from EP.

Yeah my standard play is a big raise like you suggested. I want a heads up pot, and the initiative on the flop. I would play it your way now and again as a mix up play, but definitely no more than about 15% of the time.

Full ring but don't think it changes much. Don't call for set value with Tens in an unraised pot from lateish position. You want to get head's up or take it now. C-bet flop, take it down most of time. As played you undervalue TT a lot.
