BTN is 35/20/ with a Attempt to Steal of 40.

I need a better line than this; should I have shoved the turn?

I don't think there's enough folding equity in pushing the turn, there's just not enough money left to fold out anything but a complete bluff.

Villain probably has a small overpair (something like JJ-99), maybe a top pair with A8s, or even a straight draw with T9s. Aginast this range you at least 12 outs, and usually the full complement of 15. That's enough to just call the turn and hope to hit on the river.

Isn't check-calling the turn for almost half your stack terrible terrible advice?
I would have played it the same as OP or perhaps bet about $15 myself on the turn, since I think BTN is full of it. If he is a compulsive stealer I would definitely not have given up on the turn. Against a TAG I might have.

He's getting odds to continue, and a turn bet or a check/push isn't going to fold out this villain often enough to be profitable. I don't see much of an alternative.

So you don't think villain is empty?
That's the reason why I like OP's play so much.

I don't think I would shove the turn. I'd probably bet $20-$22 and call a shove. One advantage to betting turn is we might get him to fold 99-JJ. But I think your line is alright too. The only bad thing about CRAI is he might feel priced in to call with those hands.

I kinda like the idea of c/ring the flop all in. NP if you get a free card.

CR'ing the turn might get you called by a hand that wouldn't normally call a second barrel. I like a bet/call here to represent the overpair.

CR'ing the flop is also an option that I like. He seems like the type of monkey that will auto bet when you check. So cr the flop when you have a chance to fold him out and when you have good equity.

At first, I thought that c/r'ing was the sweetest play here. but the more i think about it, i like bet/call better. by three betting PF, we are repping a big hand, villain ranges for hero as of the flop is big PPs, overs, and a little spiteful junk. The board is two suited (fortunately two suits good for hero), so would we ever check this turn under these circumstances with an overpair? I wouldn't. Leading can definitely fold out better hands and if it doesn't we are getting that much better odds to call with our overs and NFD.

I think I prefer b/c on the turn. CRing gives him odds to call with basically anything
