View Full Version : Flopped flush, with a push in front of me. Is this an insta-call?

I had just started on this table.
Villain is 40/15/1.19 over 40 hands.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed)

CO ($14.15)
Button ($67.65)
SB ($32.60)
Hero ($26.85)
UTG ($14.65)
MP ($21.50)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
UTG calls $0.25, 3 folds, SB raises to $1, Hero calls $0.75, UTG calls $0.75.

Flop: ($3) A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
SB bets $31.6 (All-In)
Hero?

If he has the Kd, he's about 3:1 to catch, right?
Are the odds of a bigger flush too small to consider?

Just call here.
If you lose this it's a badbeat or a cooler.

Insta call, you beat a ton of hands and I really dont believe many villains open shoves flop for 10 x pot here with the nuts...

Yes. A 15% pfr is usually not raising KdXd or QdXd without another big card, so you have exactly 3 hands you fear and a ton of other hands he could have. A standard donkfish fears being outdrawn and overbets pots not considering that he'll only get called when beat. 2-pairs, sets, AK-AJ and Ax with a diamond are easily in his range.

Of course I called, without even thinking.
Then when villain showed me Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ/images/graemlins/diamond.gif for the win, I wondered if maybe I should've thought about it a little more.
But I guess it was just one of those things.

edit: SB had QdJd, UTG also called all-in with AT.

Lots of people make these moves online with hands like Top Two etc hoping to scare off the diamonds, it'd be a sick way to bluff at it so i'd expect him to have something. No matter what i'd say its always a pretty easy call. T and A are out of there he could even be protecting a smaller flush.
