villain won some pots recently, not too many.
he called preflop and folded to cbets often.

I called the river, because i was curious and it was cheap.
Should i raise that turn?

Yeah, raise the turn to $5.5 or so .. as played calling river is meh - like you said was cheap you might be ahead tho prolly not

Fold river.
Turn sucks, id raise if it wasnt such a gay 8 tbh so call is fine, raise is suicide imo

i really disagree.. I think raising turn is pretty standard.. granted it is the last $$ you are putting into the hand.

and ya, folding river is for sure best.. but u could kinda justify it saying decent odds, slight chance ur ahead, info for later etc.. not a huge deal imo

What's the point in raising the turn? This is probably fine except river

i know the river is burned money, but he made it cheap

the point in raising the turn:
i think we can get more money in from hands like KT, or Jx hands.

Sure I guess, if you think jx will call a turn raise. I don't think that's true though

The turn looks like a blocking bet. Im would raise there against most opponents. Few would play a queen or 109 like that, at least where I play (stars nl50).

As played I might be calling the river. 4:1 is a very nice price together with the value of seeing what villian had. Also, folding the river to 4:1 is bad for the table image.

If he calls great, if he folds fine. At least make him pay if he's drawing. I think hero's hand is strong enough for a value raise on the turn. If villain calls though we check behind on any river and if he reraises easy fold..

If he leads river that just be weird considering how aggressive our line is.. On a J river I think i fold though as he prolly just wouldn't want to risk a check behind with the boat. But just about any other river, I'd consider a bet a blocking bet with J or just a shot in the dark most of the time and call.

Keitan - Why are you so optimistic Jx calls? Also, what range have you assigned to this villan.

IMO?

Not folding: T9, Qx
Prob folding: Jx/Air

Dont get sucked into pots because a guy makes it "cheap". Cheap is a pointless word, your either ahead or have odds. Cheap is as good as a chocolate teapot.

Turn raise = burning cash.
less do if the turn wasnt an 8.
