View Full Version : AA utg vs button 3bet and cold caller

08-31-2007, 07:58 AM
Button is good aggressive TAG, cold caller is fishy 35/9/1.5 over 140 hands. Button has not been 3betting me light, but I made a tricky play earlier and we went all in and we both had AA.

Question is: Is it ever correct to just 4bet to 21$ or so, considering that button might put me on AK, since the previous AA hand where I just 4bet shove, or is it just to dangerous with the cold caller still in the hand ? I put buttons 3bet range on TT+, AK maybe AQs, SB has TT-QQ IMO (but you never know, since these types have never heard of implied odds)

WTF? Deffinately just 4-bet to 23. Shoving this might fold out a whole bunch of hands that will pay you off on the flop.

depends what you do with other hands. in isolation it doesn't make much difference, but the smaller 4bet is probably better.

Yeah make it $21 and push any flop if called, obviously this is good if anyone calls but they might not, cold caller is likely to call raise to $21 much more than all-in imo.

If button is any good it's unlikely he'll call your reraise without KK or QQ, maybe JJ/AK, so I don't know if you really should worry about that. I'd just pop it up like 23 as scallop said and see what happens. No point in shoving so much in.

I always fall into the trap that once I get 3 bet pre by a donk that they will always just call a 4 bet push but everytime I do it everyone folds. Even from the perspective of a donk its hard for them to call with anything other than KK+ Maybe AK IMO

I donīt think it matters much. But I have seen people call my 4bets and then fold on the flop when they didnīt like the flop. A 4bet looks super strong no matter what, unless you have some history or villain is a donk. I shove most of the time for ~100 bb and I get calls from all kinds of stuff.

Yeah on this hand i had JJ haha.

Considered calling you but you hadn't been forcing me to "stay honest" or anything like that. So i just let it go.

I'd probably fold to a 4bet here from you anyway since you seemed to be running pretty tight that session.

BTW that button was awesomely terrible haha.
