uh don't fold. Calling's fine without reads, sometimes I'll raise but usually not against an unknown

Why would you fold here ? You probably have as much as 12 outs and you're getting 3 to 1 odds.

Preflop and flop are both good

Okay, so you have 9 outs to the flush and three additional outs to the straight. Twelve total outs, although I would discount an out or two just in case a diamond makes your opponent a better flush. So you are somewhere between 3:1 and 4:1 to hit a card that will win you the hand. You have 3:1 pot odds to call, and you'll probably make at least 4 more dollars on the river if you make your hand, so calling here should be +EV.

What if villain's bet size was more in the 2/3 pot - full pot range.

If villain bets ~7 on this turn he doesn't have much behind so I don't think we have any FE if we push and we don't have the implied odds to call, so fold your 9 high.
