Only Sb (DONK) calls.

he bets out $3. I reraise to about $10 and he repushes for his remaining $30 - $20 for me to call.

I talk myself into calling and he turns over 5 9.

I win but was this a bad play?

I don't think it's a particularly bad play. I would expect the villain to be holding Ax or two diamonds here most of the time.

I think the play is fine. HE could easily think you are on the steal from the button and making a play with AK etc. I would probably pay this off if the guy is an uber donk

Whether it was a good play or bad play is completely independent of the exact two cards villain happened to have this particular hand. Villain having 95 wouldn't necessarily make it a good play, and villain having 32 wouldn't necessarily make it a bad play.
