If he calls and the turn isn't a face card, then I'd fire a second barrel in the knowledge I still have a ton of outs. If you bet the flop and he raises, I think you have to call because I don't think there's any way that flop helped him as much as it helped you and at worst he's got a pocket pair that he's desperately trying to protect.

Even on a bricked turn, I think you have to bet again or else you give him control of the hand and if he shoves, you're very much pot committed at that point anyway.
