I know I should've raised this preflop, but I was trying to mix up my play on this hand, I raise this most times. These are the kind of flops where I believe it's push all in or fold, can't see calling here. Love to hear your opinions.

Yeah, I'd raise pre-flop. As played, I fold, too many straights/two pairs etc. You only beat smaller pocket pairs & FDs but not too much ahead of pair+FD / straight+FD (and smaller pocket pairs might have pretty many outs as well).

i dump this pretty fast. way too much money behind to get yourself in deep with a little overpair on that board.

i think 99 is a pretty bad hand to mix it up with, because people limp with it all the time anyway, so its not like it has some big surprise value or something. not that its a terrible play or anything, but most people aren't paying any attention anyway, so mixing it up in general is mostly pointless.

Daycareinferno, I think you're right it's pointless to mix up play at this level, my overthink of "mixing it up" is what got me in trouble on this one. If I had raised preflop I would have had a better idea where I was in the hand. As it stands, I'm clueless as to whether I'm ahead, behind, or about even if he's drawing. /images/graemlins/confused.gif
