this game (http://files.deviantart.com/f/2004/188/8/7/gridgame.swf) was just posted in OOT. People couldn't figure out whether it was just luck or if there is anyway to devise a strategy for this game.

I think you have to be a mathematical savont to figure out a strategy for this game. I think if you can find the pattern you should be able to set it up so that if you click one tile it will set off an infite chain reaction because the same tiles will keep setting each other off. Ofcourse you have recognise the mini chain reaction caused by merely making changes.

I think if you figured out a pattern for this you would be way too far gone to use a computer.

Like maybe I could do it on 10 hits of lsd but interfacing with machines is so hard :P

By a strategy, do they mean a way to set it up to get a huge chain reaction, or a way to find the best thing to click given a random board?

yes i mean set it up for a huge chain reaction..ofcourse keeping in mind that while setting it up you'll be starting smaller chain reactions that will change everything again.

so far i've realised that if everything is pointing in one direction you can set of a chain reaction across the board but i don't know how to bounce it off the other side to keep it going (EDIT: i haven't really been working on it.. when i quit playing poker i'll try to figure out more)

1100 is possible.

And can be achieved on accident with some regularity.

I spent an embarassing amount of time setting up patterns for this some months ago. If you can get a board with a lot of near-circles and S's you can set up some fairly ridiculously long reactions if you are careful

2095 is my highest but just by random clicking

I got 1090 within a couple minutes. Dumb luck.

1452 setting it up but only using about 1/5 of the whole thing...i'm managing to repeatedly bounce the same tiles of each other...so you see the wave of spinning tiles move up and down in the area i organized...i'm having a hard time setting up a larger area without starting a chain reaction that messses everything up....help please someone!!!

Crap, spent like 15 min setting it up and gets a brainfart and start it premature and get 2187.

If a corner turns outward, there is no way to move it again. So it's obviously a finite solution. Maybe working from the corners inward somehow?

1819 with really no intelligent setup (dumb luck).
