Updated August 12

2:26pm - A representative of Casinogamblingweb made a forum post at twoplustwo about having a reliable source telling him the regulations for the UIGEA are likely to get pushed back 2-3 months. I believe he will be writing a news story once he gets more information and I will post it once/if he gets confirmation. He stated there was a reasoning for it being such a long delay but did not comment on why as of yet. Hopefully this turns out to be non-rumors....

is this good news or bad news and what do we think this will ultimately mean?

I would love to know what this means.

I would also like to know what it is going to be like playing poker in the "danger states" (not the felony ones).

Will they just ban poker for those states where online gambling is a crime?

Its not going to affect anything short term. Patience grasshopper, its not like Party's board of directors is mulling over re-entering the US market Monday. Think THanksgiving

OP posted here at 2+2 a quote from another site (CompatiblePoker) quoting a person from a third site (Casinogamblingweb), supposedly the Casinogamblingweb making a post back here at 2+2. .... AND the "story" is not even consodered by the orignator to be at the level of a real news item.... zero content, 100% self-referential, and, not surprisingly ... no originating post at 2+2 is included.

There is zero content, so there is not much to say ... it is not really "news", good or bad.

What it uktimately means is you are chasing your own tail.

LOL. I made the post and, last time I checked I wasn't a CGW rep.

I try to research UIGEA and related issues on the web often. It's funny how often I find an interesting story, only to find I'm the source of it. LOL.

It seems like about a week ago Berge20 had said that he heard the regulations would possibly be out in one to two weeks. Last week at some point Engineer said he had heard that the regulations were delayed (possibly as much as 2 to 3 months). In another post today I believe Engineer said he might have jumped the gun a bit in including a time frame.

These two posters are the most reliable sources I know of on 2p2 (along with Mr.K) regarding legislative items. The time line of their latest "guesses" as to the regulations could very well be true. Berge's sources last week may honestly have believed the regulations were on track to be out in a week or two. Engineer may have the same or similar source who then realized that the regs were going to be delayed some. Nonetheless, the poker community still does not know when the regulations are coming out and uncertainty is often times worse than the event itself. It is hard for me to believe that those people working on the regulations are that secretitave given that every time you turn the TV on there is some sort of grand jury leak or legislative leak or leak in an investigation from the police.

I'm for one hoping that the regulations come out as soon as possible so we can get on with figuring out how to continue to play poker online. So Berge and Engineer keep us updated with your predictions they may not always be 100% accurate but they are the best 2p2 appears to have and it is much better than being totally in the dark.

Yes RedBeard I agree. Everyone at this point knows that pretty much everything is speculation and those who get mad when timeframes don't match up as to what was said...well what can you say. Rumors are rumors and you take them as that but it's better than nothing.
