Hi

Since I need some more frequent flier miles this year (long story... /images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm planning to fly to Vegas for a week in October, probably 10th to 16th or something. I saw that the Caesars Palace Classic will take place then. Unfortunately most of these events are too expensive for me. But each evening there will be a daily last chance tournament for 120$. Has anyone played in one of these? How big is the field there and what about the skill level of these players? I'm thinking about just playing each evening this last chance tournament and if I win something I might play one of the more expensive tourneys.

I don't know about Caesar's Palace but generally these second chance things are very popular. I would expect them to sell out however many seats CP allocate for the tournament. Maybe 150-200 ?

One thing's for sure though, the standard of play will be appallingly bad. These tournaments tend to be very fast though, so brush up on your pushbotting !

Good luck.

I once played the noon tournament, can you compare the structure to that? So far Caesars had the best tournaments for my buyin level (up to max. 120 bucks). MGM's 69$ 11am is quite nice and Luxor's tournaments are in my opinion absolutely horrible (still won one though /images/graemlins/wink.gif Unfortunately there aren't any other good tourneys I know of. Any advice for my trip? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you are paying that much, why not pay 10 bucks more for the Venitian 8pm tourney.

You get 2500 in chippies, and the blinds raise every 40 min. For 50 bucks more, you get 2k more in chips, making your total 4500 in starting chips.

i find my edge in fast tournies is even more because cash game players are horrible at making the necessary adjustments

You get a free entry to the ME if you win any tourney of the classics? wow nice...when I once played the noon tournament at caesars my table was fairly good in my opinion. When I finally got moved to a fishy table I had to go all in (luckily with AK) fairly quick and lost to QT..well well same [censored] as online lol

The vast majority of the time this isn't free. If you win, they take 10K of your money and say "now you're in the Main Event". It's a gyp.

I will stand corrected if Caesar's are actually adding an ME seat. But I bet they aren't.

10k comes out of prize pool first, then they calc the pool, then they add the seat back to 1st.

1st place becomes very top heavy basically which is great

won twice, finished 4th once. Field's really soft and easy. just use your basic MTT strategy and you'll be fine.

I agree - the Venetian has a good structure and they also have a very nice card room with good management.

Sahara has three tourneys a day. For a total of $62 you get 5000 chips. The blinds start at 25/25 and go up every 20 minutes, which is quicker than Venetian. The room is old and not very nice but the dealers are competent and the structure is better than any other for that price range.

yeah but with the addon (or do they call it rebuy?) you basically have to pay 160 don't you?

If you are talking about the tourney at the 'V' then it's actually $180 ($130 plus $50 for the add on/rebuy).

However, the blinds only raise once every 40 min, and for that amount, you get a total of 4500 in chips.
