I just watched some clip of a kid putting a Mentos in a Diet Coke bottle and it exploded...is this real...is there any scientific explaination?

could you have any bad effect consuming Coke and Mentos at the same time?...just a lot of burping or maybe something worse...or is the carbon dioxide already neutralised when you drink coke?

Maybe the carbonation got released. Just a wild gas.
