nl 50 2 hands... new to NL

I'm buying in short to the $50 game vs. playing a full buyin in the 25 game... is this bad??
I figured there might be comments about buying in short/not having a full buyin.

Villain looks tight over less than 30 hands.

hand 1: w/ only 40 bbs just stick it all-in there pre-flop. If you were buying in full, then the situation becomes a bit tougher, but as you're already short, you have to go all-in. folding is bad

hand 2: just bet the flop. any c/r shows great strength, so just put them on the installment plan and pot, pot, pot.

play full stacked, its just dumb to shorstack nl 50 instead.



hand 1 some people will say fold, some say call, also some say pushing preflop is ok. being that you're shortstacked, i shove, because people will make loose calls vs. a shortstack

hand 2 I lead flop instead, c/r'ing that board in an unraised pot will just scare people away that may have called a few streets with a7, etc.

hand number one i would push. also, i'd rather buy in full to the $25 game than short stack the larger game.

Hand 1, if you're playing short, just push here over his raise. Only reason to play short is to get a feel for 3bets, peoples playing styles, aggression, etc at any new level. Don't do it much. Short stacking can be profitable, but we play at 50NL for learning something and that can only be done by playing post flop poker. Shortstacking is only really profitable at higher stakes anyway.

Hand 2, bet the flop. You're going to get more action if anyone has anything, and that pays off a lot better than any c/r -- where now they're sure you have a monster. If you're raised, and flop is as dry as this one, you can call and c/r the turn -- or push (depends on villain's range, pf limped pots can be anything); pushing/3betting is better in raised pots that are two-tone or straightening out.
