I'm pretty sure you answered your own question. Yeah, you have to check. You're not getting any action unless they have the case A or 99. Let them try to catch up a little.

he can't have much there, if you check you might get an extra bet from him but don't expect action. you really hope he has Ax but I doubt it

I don't like checking here because I like c-betting a lot so for meta it disguises your hand more. Otherwise, if you're c-betting weak holdings and checking strong ones you're easier to run over. Also, if I notice that you c-bet a lot and then suddenly check that's scary.

[/ QUOTE ]Agreed in principle, but it doesn't look like I have a monster. I usually have Ax or low pair, suited connectors here making this bet. I'd actually much prefer to have AK here. Hate flopping monsters on dry boards.

Seriously? Maybe it's just me, but I always prefer flopping a monster over flopping a decent hand, no? AA > AK on A92 flop, why would you ever prefer to hold a weaker hand? Because it wastes AA? I mean seriously, if he has A9, he has your AK in awful shape. If he has AQ-AT, he's still got 3 outs, but if you have AA... he's smoked even with 99. So... wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I would prefer a really strong but beatable hand and take him to value town. I'm not afraid of being stacked at this point it's kind of standard, lol.
