I dont think vs the stronger parts of his range you get it in any better w/ this line than bet/bet/shove.

What you do is lose tons of value when Ax checks behind turn and/or river.

I use this line often as well, works great against floaters and aggressive players.

I like it only against aggro types that are capable of value-betting pretty thin. I'm betting you get looked up pretty light here...your line probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense from villain's POV.

it's a better line to use with a medium-strong hand than a monster to extract value and i agree it's very effective vs. people who automatically bet when you look weak.

i think you're getting fancy for no reason and lose lots of value and were lucky that he bet both streets..bet/bet/shove ftw.

Looking for check-raises with monsters on Axx board generall sucks since people often check behind these hands and very often cannot fold to a lead. This hand blows unless you are against an overly-aggressive opponent.

The river doesn't change the board much. Once he bets the turn I think you can count on that river bet.

Turn: ($41) K/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 Players)

River: ($101) 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
Hero checks, CO checks......

Had you posted the hand like this, the responses would be much different.

Check-calling the turn and checkraising the river is an EV drain.

I think a little less deceptive but more EV line would be to c/c turn and lead river. Hero's line is good but only against an opponent who we have a good read on, and know will bet the river with decent regularity.

This really looks like a hand I played the other day (as villain), but I don't see how those could be my stats over that many hands. Anyways...

I pretty much agree with the bet bet bet for value camp, but it's worth thinking about shania with someone that you have 300 hands with in your database. Most people at 1/2 I don't bother, but there is a handful of regulars with whom I do try to mix things up.

Ok, well.. this time it worked out because he had 55.

And I agree. Keep betting is probably best. I just thought he didn't have much. I expect him to 3town AK pre and raise AQ on the flop. So I thought I could get some more value from a float or something else he felt he needed to bet the turn.

NEWSFLASH......

It didn't matter what line you took because you are getting it AI when you flop set vs. set.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that this line garnered any extra EV over betting the turn (or CR turn).
