Does anyone remember when they were announced last year, or does anyone think that since Harrahs changed hands that maybe they won't do it for 2007/2008?

I have no source on this, but I remember reading somewhere and on here that the Circuit Events are no more.

that's disappointing, thought the C's were a decent format attracting regional players to the brand & offering a shot at a ring + seat to the big one.

That sucks if it is true.

I was at the AC event in March and they were talking about that they had record crowds turn out to play.

i just called Grand Casino in Tunica and the guy who answered in the poker room said that they are having the Wsop Circuit event down there starting August 29th with the $5000 buy in taking place September 11th.
He said they should release the full schedule pretty soon....hope he is correct

Yeah I know, when I played in Council Bluffs, IA (across the river from Omaha, NE), they said it drew so much business in there including the non poker playing (translate slot playing) significant others, that they were sure they were going to have it there again.

I hope it will be announced soon if it's going to happen.

The cash games were so phenominal during the circuit in Council Bluffs it was sick.

Yeah, I agree, I was there, and cleaned up big time. It drew a huge crowd (the WSOP circuit event), and even truckers stopped at truck stops to come over and play (The Horseshoe has a shuttle service to several of the truck stops in the area).

This as Omaha a lot of trucks move through that area on their cross country trips.

The WSOP Circuit was repositioned by Harrah's in 2006-2007 as a series of "regional" tournaments.

There will be broadband video coverage (worldseriesofpoker.com powered by Bluff Media) of the final table of the $5150 buy-in Circuit events, but no TV coverage, as ESPN declined to buy the TV rights.

Eric Morris, Publisher, Bluff, told me via email TODAY that he has NO INFO about circuit events and he has inquired of Harrah's what their plans are.

CardPlayer mag reports, Vol 20, No 14, Page 51, RH column, that circuit events are not planned this year.

I am hoping they are wrong, but when people who should know don't, it makes me wonder.

Should I sign up for Gulf Coast Chapionship in Biloxi, or wait for Harrahs to announce a circuit in Tunica for basically the same dates?

I agree council bluffs was good action although I only played the 2-5 NL game and probably should have checked out the 5-10 NL game - I will cross my fingers that they hold this again. I just wish Missouri could lift the $500 loss limit so they could play at Harrah's North Kansas City or in St. Louis

I'd kill for that kind of restriction, as would most here in Colorado, the land of no hold 'em fold 'em where the max bet allowed here is 5 bucks.

NL poker is nothing but a dream here.

there's currently legislation (a few weeks back in cardplayer it said this) to remove the $500 loss limit in missouri.

Any chance there will be any events other than NLHE?

CincyLady
08-01-2007, 02:00 AM
They normally do run other events other than NLHE as part of the circuit events (though only a few), as shown here for last year:

http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/tourney/tourneyDetails.asp?groupID=273

from the New Orleans event.

hime

They run a few NLHE events at each, it just depends on the venue. There were at least two HORSE/SHOE events as I recall, one had David Williams and Marcel Luske going heads-up. You know that would have made for good TV.

Of course, there was one circuit event last year that was only NLHE. :|

There was a limit event on Council Bluffs. Don't think they ran any stud or Omaha. An Omaha event would make a lot of sense since it's a bunch of people from omaha.

The problem here is obvious.

Looks to me like they've even added events.....going to New Orleans twice.
