No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) handconverter.com (http://www.handconverter.com)

BB ($78.92)
UTG ($23.95)
MP ($58.85)
Hero ($49.45)
SB ($62.00)

Preflop: Hero is Button with K/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2.25, 1 fold, BB calls $1.75, UTG calls $1.75.

Flop: ($7) K/images/graemlins/club.gif, 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif, K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $5, BB raises to $76.67, UTG folds, Hero ...

UTG was a fish, BB was aggro (30/20 stats, but I didn't know yet whether he was good or bad postflop). If BB has better trips/FH his line is retarded but that obviously doesn't mean he cannot play it this way. While thinking about this problem I've changed my mind from snapcall to snapfold a few times already /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Some possible variations which also interest me:
1) Hero holds KJ/KQ/AK
2) Hero holds AA/QQ
3) UTG isn't there
4) BB raises pot to $22

Can't see him doing this with anything less than a king. There are no draws and AA is unlikely since he didn't 3-bet preflop. Pushing the flop with a PP (non-3 or K) would be folly. Also there are 2 others besides him on the flop, so he's gotta give credit to the possibility that either one of you has a king. The main question is if your 8 is any good. This is not a hand you want to lose a big pot with. I wouldn't want to play for stacks here.

i instacall without reads

i had someone push almost like this today on a KK7 board with 44 except he was a 55bb stack

Preflop is marginal, but given the situation, ok, I guess.

Your kicker sucks and they called a preflop bet. His raise is rediculously high though, so I'd really like to know what he does this with. Eventually I'll take a stand in these situations, but as a standard I fold.

1) fold/sometimes call/call
2) fold/fold
3) still fold (although he doesn't bother me much with $20 left)
4) fold

And you got lucky... Make a note, but remember calling without a kicker against any descent player is going to get you broke quickly.

most people at these stakes aren't decent players and i will definitely have a read on him if he is

Scrubbo, you are right a lot aren't decent players at uNL, therefore it sometimes is ok to call after we have a read that he's not.

As a standard fold, or you will become one of the not-decent players yourself. You can't just assume everyone is really bad untill proven otherwise, it'll get you broke soon.
Even if you're sure he's quite bad than you must realise that even a bad player will raise here with a better king almost all the time.

Fold. Your pot odds are ridiculously bad and you're not ahead enough here.

Pushing the flop with any hand would be folly.

[/ QUOTE ]Which is why I wonder what hands aggro villains play this way.

How about a situation where Hero has AK? KQ?

I think 33 is easily the number 1 hand that does this. With the players in the hand, its realistic that someone has a king.

I dont see JJ/QQ/AA enough times to make up for 33 or a king and bigger kicker. I can fold this.

Methinks I fold here.

For people talking about the kicker, is this hand a call with AK/KQ?

I wouldn't put him on 33 here. with 33, I would see a check/call on the flop and check/raise-push on the turn.

I DO see him hold AK or KQ here a lot of the time. fold.

The boggling size of his raise makes me err towards calling here. Hes obviously not trying to encourage action, quite the revese if anything, so I dont think he has a monster hand. I would put him on QQ-88, reasoning being that he will most likely assume you missed the flop and that you have a pair which the kings counterfeit.

fold.

I'm not sure this is a snap fold.
BTN is 30/20 and is almost certainly repopping hero preflop with AK-KJ.
The board is paired and BB may be simply on the move (rightly putting Hero's BTN cbet on a wide range) feeling that Hero has to fold anything less than KQ/KJ.

We need to be right a little less than half the time, and I think an aggro 30/20 is capable of doing this with pretty much any underpair (although doesn't do this 100% of the time, obviously).

I disagree entirely with people saying its AK, he is shoving for value here, I shove 33 here as well, very few players are folding a K... and if he has something like AK, hes either taking the line that has been discussed call check push turn or he is re raising right here, but not shoving. This is the perfect kind of flop to overshove 33.

fwiw there is noway you can call profitably with K 8 here. If he's bluffing, say "nh" and move on, your hardly priced in
