Hi, long time lurker here at 2p2 and first time poster.

I am new to online poker and have decided to give it a shot. I primarily play home games and I play at the casino about once every other week. I don't consider myself to be a great poker player but I have done my share of reading and I have turned out to be a winning player.

Anyways! I am generally an agressive player(read: extremely agressive). However, I have heard from several people that the stakes I plan on playing at FTP(lowest they offer- .05/.10), people do not respect raises and people get rivered left and right. Basically people have been telling me to play a bit more passive and extremely tight. Kind of let the money slowly come in.

Is this true or should I continue my agressive play?

Thanks!

I think you should post some hands instead of general questions like this one. What you mean by "aggressive" probably differs a whole lot from what posters here think is a aggressive so it is kind of a pointless discussion.

Also, I really hate it when my opponents respect my raises.

Sorry, I have not yet started playing on FTP so I don't have any hands to share as of yet. I'll save some Hand Histories and post them tomorrow.

I am just trying to get a feel for what kind of players I will run into at those stakes. I have heard lots of calling stations, thus making it harder to bluff/semi-bluff(which semi-bluffing is a big part of my game).

TAG (tight aggro) will get you the money at 10NL. I`m not sure if being overly aggressive at these levels is good. I play about 19/13/2.2 (probably could use a little more aggression) and it has worked for me. Anyways preflop is important, but making correct postflop decisions is what`s gonna get you the money. Try stacking people with your sets, when they hit Top pair, and don`t go broke on Top pair yourselve. GL

This pretty much says it.

Play alot of position, Don't bluff big, and Don't make crying calls and you should be fine

OP

Keep playing aggressive. Don't get too much involved with marginal hands though.

Usually raise when you enter pots. Play more hands from late position than early position. Play very tight out of the blinds due to position. Blind defense is unimportant at 10NL. If you are unsure about preflop ranges, PM me.

Never slow play, and value bet all streets with your strong hands. Also be prepeared to make very thin value bets against loose/passive villains. Meaning when you check to you all streets, and on the river your hand might not be so strong, but you realize it is best, value bet. People call down with unimaginably weak holdings.

Constantly practice your hand-reading skills, and post problem hands on this board.

If you follow all this advice, and use a proper bankroll strategy, you will CRUSH 10NL, and be at 25NL in no time.

dont listen to people, they're general "rules" are normally wrong, just try and make the best possible decision at all times and dont be a complete nit
