There has just been made a verdict in a trial against people who had staged a live poker tournament with prize money, outside of casinos where regulated gambling is legal, in Denmark.
The verdict was that poker in tournament form (cash games were not considered in this trial) was not gambling, as it was considered possible to use your skill to affect the outcome of a live poker tournament. Therefore it was not illegal to stage a live poker tournament with prize money, outside of casinos.
The verdict can be appealled by the prosecution.
Online gambling/sportsbetting is legal in Denmark, and depending on where the site is licensed you might have to pay taxes on winnings.
