SB had been playing very aggressively. No stats on him because I hadn't been at the table too long. His line seemed pretty fishy. Bet small on the flop, check turn. I thought he was trying to trap. Usually when aggressive players slow down it's because they have a good hand. Raise flop? If not, then bet turn? Call river? Or played okay?

I think I would have bet the turn around $6-7, folding to a raise, and if I checked behind it'd be with the plan of calling just about any river.

Does villain's story make sense? What story is he telling? On the turn this looks like a J, 7, draw, or air, and until I know better, not a K. The river doesn't change too much, so I stick with betting the turn to charge worse hands and, failing that, catching the bluff on the river. I don't raise the flop because I want him to keep betting his J/7/draw/air, and because any time I actually manage to build a big pot I flopped behind.

river is a call against a LAG

You made it harder to play because you just called. I raise flop, or if calling flop raise turn at least. Also as played, defiantly call. You beat a lot of hands.

You should bet the turn. I don't think he leads this flop with a king and you're fine taking it down with your mid pair on the turn. His river bet is either trip 7s or something worse than your jack. I doubt he makes this bet with 1 pair. Do you think he has a 7 more than 2/3 of the time?

-also, calling gives you a huge insight into a major weakness of his if he actually does hold 1pair kings. He bets huge with top pair on the river and that's something you can exploit real easy.

I bet $7 on the turn here.

As played I would call the river I think your ahead of his range.

Played too passively. I would throw in a flop raise and be done with it. LAG doesnt check the turn with a K esp after that donkish size flop bet. Youre ahead of his range, definatly call.

What other hands do you raise the flop with?

The flop call is spew I think. If you're going to play middle pair here against this bet, raise it. You opened the door to his river PSB because you told him you were weak with the call and check on the turn. Be more aggressive.

Is this flop an auto raise for most people?

I think this may be a leak of mine here. I'm usually raising weak donkbets with strong hands and air alike, but here we have an OK hand and position, and the opponent wants to keep the pot small. A raise will presumably chase out everything we beat, and the only real draw is QT.

I'd usually just all this flop, and would call again on a brick turn, or bet if checked to. Reads would help on whether this LAG is capable of triple barreling a worse hand or a draw, trying to push us off our OK hand.

Now I'm not saying my way is the optimum way of playing it and would love to hear the pros and cons of calling/raisng this flop. Also, for those suggesting 'flop raise', their thoughts for how to procede if he calls our flop raise and then:

a) Checks to us?
b) leads weak again?
(If he leads strong we have a fairly easy fold)

Are people betting turn strong if he checks to us? If we check behind on turn and he leads river strong?

As played, I call this river too, I think we have the best hand here fairly often.
