Hi all, I had a bit of a look around but I couldn't find anything specifically on it. Can anyone tell me why 6 max seems a lot more popular then full ring? What are the big benefits of it?

Anyone that could enlighten me would be awesome.

This post has a little on it: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...part=1&vc=1 (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=5237151&page=0&fpart=1&v c=1)

Also, you play more hands against the fish, and it allows those with more skill to play more hands against weaker opponents and take advantage of their skill

Advantages:
- more fish like to play them because they are faster and they see more action/hands
- you get to play more hands against a single opponent so if you spot a live one, you can try to isolate him and crush him more easily
- you get more hands in per hour which is good for the people who get rakeback or who think that the sample size in their database is proportional to their skill level (which is certainly true to a certain degree)
- play is not so nitty

Disadvantages:
- you pay the blinds more often
- you are in the blinds more often, so you get more hands oop that are awkward to play (AJ etc)
- play is wilder, leading to a higher variance
- the rake is higher on average
