Gus Hansen Likes 420

Every since Gus Hansen won a race with pocket deuces against A-J, he's been on a tear. His opponent said that Hansen was a "sick puppy" for making that call.

Hansen just won another pot. He's among the chipleaders and sitting on a stack worth 420,000.

Although Gus Hansen has won four World Poker Tour titles and has earned almost $5 million in tournaments, he has never won a bracelet at the WSOP.

After this pot, Hansen somehow quickly lost 60,000 chips and was down to 340,000...but than this:

He eventually ends the day in second place with 530,000

Hansen is going to win it all, this is going to be GREAAAAT for poker. I remember how Hansen was idolized by noobZ when he won all those WPTs 3-4 years ago. Go Gus!

If he makes the money i guess this is his biggest acomplishment in the wsop in his career.

07-12-2007, 08:54 AM
He won't care about that at all though.

It's so early still but at the start today already and now with a big stack he will only be thinking of final table/winning and that will be a factor in every hand he plays.

Anything below final table is just what he can easily win/lose in a matter hours during a cash game. That will without a doubt be his mentality. With no compromises made.

I'm sure that's why he made the 22 call early on as well.

Actually the last and possibly only time in his career he has ever cashed without going really really deep was in the 04 series.

funny that his big stack and rain's were at the table for a while... if matusow can keep it together for a run, so can hansen

but, like the earlier poster mentioned about negreanu(sp?)'s stack... lots of poker left to be played

I remember reading last year, a poster mentioned that Gus's play at the WSOP was very mediocre. Overplaying or making marginal calls with JJ, etc. Now he's hoping to top his loss against DAHHHHH Mattias Anderson.

I do the same and since reading that I've just assumed Gus is terrible

Well in the year the big games have run there, he is one of the biggest winners in omaha and THE biggest winner in omaha hi-lo.
Aba and especialy Durrr as great as they are, aren't even winners I don't think.

Maybe those notes were either a little premature or simply nl holdem notes, where it does seem he is somewhat of a high stakes fish.
Sample size is pretty small though from what I've seen.

And of course either way, it doesn't have a whole lot to do with his tournament play.

Edit: I do think though that Aba is probably the player Gus has lost the most to on Full Tilt while the players I think Aba has lost the most to (in plo) Benyamine and PA, he handles pretty well.
