Final Table for Event #50 Set for Tuesday at 2:00 pm PDT

With David Chiu's elimination in tenth place, the final table is set and ready to go tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:00 pm PDT. Right now, the plan is to broadcast this final table live over the web at WorldSeriesOfPoker.com. It will *not* be sequestered, because the holecard system isn't set up for Omaha, which uses four cards. So that means there will be a live audience, and there will not a one-hour delay. (If everything goes according to plan.)

The big story at this table is obviously Doyle Brunson, who will be trying to catch up to Phil Hellmuth with his 11th career WSOP bracelet. Two years ago, when Johnny Chan won his 10th, Doyle caught him less than a week later. Can he catch the leader again this year?

This table is packed with big names, including Patrik Antonius, Robert Mizrachi, and Marco Traniello. Most of the players are looking to pop their bracelet cherry, even though this table averages more than one bracelet per seat -- Doyle has 10, and everyone else has zero.

Here are the official chip counts and seating positions:

Seat 1 - Doyle Brunson - 510,000
Seat 2 - Patrik Antonius - 650,000
Seat 3 - Marco Traniello - 420,000
Seat 4 - Rene Mouritsen - 775,000
Seat 5 - Tommy Ly - 1,895,000
Seat 6 - Jonas Flug-Entin - 445,000
Seat 7 - Steve Sung - 175,000
Seat 8 - Stephen Ladowski - 360,000
Seat 9 - Robert Mizrachi - 1,090,000

Return to PokerNews.com tomorrow (Monday) at 2:00 pm PDT, for live hand-by-hand coverage of all the action.

So it looks like we're going to get a live broadcast?

F---. Pokernews is saying they've added a 40k/80k level, but worldseriesofpoker.com still says 30k/60k will be the last level.

At 40/80 there will only be 80 BBs on the table, which is OK for head's up but sucks for 4 or more.

Chip Count Problems

Even though this isn't being taped for a full ESPN episode, there are more cameras than usual at this final table. ESPN has an ENG crew (hand-held cameras), along with Bluff, who is webcasting this at WorldSeriesOfPoker.com. So there are several hand-held cameras floating around, along with a few stationary cameras -- and our chip counter can't be in front of any of them. Even the tournament director/announcer has been pigeonholed into one spot and asked not to move.

Unable to approach the table, it is nearly impossible to see the chips and get accurate counts. We will do our best, and we will still get official chip counts (to the chip) during all the breaks.

Approximate Chip Counts

Here are approximate chip counts after Hand #8:

Seat 1 - Doyle Brunson - 400,000

Mizrachi shows {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, and the crowd reacts as they see both players have a pair of aces. But that doesn't mean a chopped pot -- in Omaha, anything can happen.

Hand #152 - Robert Mizrachi Wins Event #50 ($768,889)

Hand #152 - Rene Mouritsen has the button, he raises to 480,000, and Mizrachi calls. The flop comes {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Mizrachi checks, Mouritsen bets, Mizrachi moves all in, and Mouritsen calls with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a diamond flush draw. Mizrachi shows {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a set of nines. Mouritsen needs to improve to survive.

The turn card is the {5-Clubs}, the river card is the {6-Spades}, and Robert Mizrachi wins the pot -- and the bracelet -- with a set of nines.

Rene Mouritsen is eliminated in second place, earning $464,877. This was the second time he has finished in second place in the last week or so.

The very large crowd of Mizrachi supporters explodes in celebration as Robert Mizrachi wins Event #50 ($10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha), earning $768,889, a Corum watch, and a coveted WSOP bracelet. The first WSOP bracelet ever won by a Mizrachi.

Riverboatking you were right. /images/graemlins/heart.gif He played it like a fiddle.

FWIW, I've been really impressed throughout the WSOP at you coming here and asking for feedback. That takes guts and demonstrates you really want to provide the best info you can.

BJ, thank goodness for you doing coverage on PokerNews. Yours is far away ahead of most of the other posters.

Thanks for the kind words, Ben and Mom. I really take my job seriously, and I'm always fighting for better online coverage than we've provided in the past, but most companies treat it like it's a commodity, and any random person can do the job. But as most of you know, that is *not* the case.

I think what I do compares to the early radio coverage of baseball games in the first half of the 20th century. Nothing compares to being there to witness a sporting event in person (or seeing it on TV or a webcast), but I hope that my live updates are the next best thing. :-)

I don't know what my next assignment is yet, but I'll definitely be working the entire Main Event, and doing the hand-by-hand updates for the final table. But if you see my name under the updates, feel free to leave feedback somewhere in this forum, or email me at BJ Nemeth at Mac dot com.

I'm surprised Antonius' fold of the nut flush hasn't gotten some more discussion. I mean, I guess Patrik puts Mizrachi on exactly a flopped set here ...

Thoughts? This seems to be the turning of the tide ...

Antonius had AdQd on a KdTd7d flop, and Mizrachi was calling Antonius' sizable bets, so J high flush was a very likely holding for Mizrachi. After the turn and river brings a pair of off-suit jacks, the possibility that Mizrachi back-doored a Jacks-full boat with something like JdT9d plus the possibility of a flopped set made it really hard for him to call.

Can't say I'm a fan of Mizrachi's call on the turn.

Definitely the defining moment of the tourney based on the hand summaries.

Any chance you wanna sell 10% of your action in this tourney retroactively?

wow. im just reading this for the first time and you got to give mizrachi a ton of credit for pulling this off. if he checks the river then he prolly dont win the bracelet. so kudos to him. as far pa goes im not good enough at plo to say if it was a good or bad fold, but it had to be a tough decision. gg pa.

Still talking about this hand with friends. I guess we've come to the conclusion that PA had a read on a J-high flopped flush, or a flopped set. That's the only way you fold this ... and if you have a strong read like that, you have to go with it.

Only problem: It was wrong.

Part of the problem was that Mizrachi's turn call was god awful. In order for Antonius to call he really has to believe that Mizrachi's bad at PLO (on top of everything else - flopped set or j-flush becomes boat).

yeah his turn call/river bet combo is pretty terrible

after the turn call, PA figures that Mizrachi has:

a. lower flush (perhaps with J/images/graemlins/heart.gif )
b. set

so when the board pairs on the river, PA is behind most anything in his reasonable range

him calling the turn with his flush to seemingly bluff a paired board river is pretty terrible
