I probably make a curiosity call just because the play makes so little sense. I mean, why does he even expect you to bet?

He's probably got something like A5o or hand that whiffed on a turn checkraise or something he slowplayed all the way to the river, though. I doubt calling is actually +EV.

i made the curious call because this player was really bad and didn't seem capable of even making this play. he had open-limped q7 one hand then c/c'd down 2nd pair and lost a big pot. it was a bad call overall and most likely -ev but he actually had KcQc.

I generally call expecting this to be some kind of steal from a guy thinking you are stealing then bang my head when its not and wonder why I lose so much money.

This bet is meant to extract value. He'd have to be mentally disabled to not have you beaten here at these stakes.
